when the SA was released, a lot of people messed around trying to spawn items, they could spawn items locally but couldn't pick them up.

there was also local V3S spawning that I believe people used for teleporting.

I've only heard a few murmurings of some people having figured out how to pick up the locally spawned items, but nothing concrete.
