Whenever I go to launch the game, Steam gives me the "prepapring to launch game..." prompt, then my screen goes black and I get the little spinning circle as my mouse pointer icon. That is as far as I'm able to get. i don't even get a splash screen. I have to Ctrl Alt Del out of the frozen dayz window to close the program in task manager(DayZ.exe is always "Not Responding"). I haven't been able to play the game since the .55 patch.

here are things I have tried to resolve the issue:

Running steam as admin
Running dayz as admin
Running steam & dayz as admin
Reinstalled the game 3 times
Verified game-file integrity 3 times
Updated graphics drivers (they have been up to date- MSI 7950 3GB & Driver version 14.12)
Deleted all DayZ SA data from PC
Added launch parameters -winxp -window
Opening the game and letting it sit at the frozen black screen for 30+ minutes

All of these have given me no results.
