the hatchet and icepick can only be placed in a characters backpack and cannot be stored in the melee weapon slot on players back.
This does not match with other items sucha s the wrench which takes the same number of slots but can be placed in the melee weapon slot on the players back.
try to put hatchet or icepick on back, find that it can only go in backpack.

Both ice pick and hatchet are classified as one handed weapons and those cannot be put on characters back at this moment. This will probably be changed in future stages of development.
