Startup Error : 0x00540680 referenced memory 0x00000000

Description

Basically bought the game about a week ago on Steam. I have been playing it fine until today. I attempted to play the game and it popped up with the Battleye EULA agreement I had accepted on the first day, I thought nothing of it and continued to proceed to accept the EULA. Once I accepted, a CMD prompt window showed me that it was updating Battleye (All expected). So far so good. Once that finished, it attempted to boot up the game and gave me the error:

blah blah......0x00540680 referenced memory 0x00000000....... blah blah.

Once I hit ok, it terminates the DayZ process and ends the program. 9/10 times I attempt to boot the game, It gives me this same error instantly on start-up. On rare occasions it gets me into the main menu but as soon as I try to login to a server, It kicks me back to a CMD prompt window in which it updates Battleye and says near the end "Make sure to run game using Steam...." or something like that.

I have tried everything there is on the forums relating to Battleye errors of this kind. I have attempted to :

-Delete Battleye files and redownload fresh ones
-Verify game integrity on Steam
-Run basically anything DayZ or Battleye or Steam related w/ Admin Priviliges
-Defragged computer
-Hell I even installed a fresh Win 7
-Updated ALL drivers (they were all up-to-date though)
-^^ Wiped all drivers and installed fresh ones thinking it would help

Im so lost, and I just bought this game :C *cries in corner*

Seems to happen on my friend's computer as well, although he has found a workaround. I have no specific steps to reproduce. Sorry.

P.S. (My friend's workaround was installing fresh Battleye files, that didn't work for me. )

**UPDATE***

After several tries, I was able to get the game to work, but whilst doing so I sacrificed control over my dedicated AMD graphics card.

Background Info: I have AMD-Intel Switchable Grphics but use AMD for everything. About a year ago, I noticed that my card should easily be able to run BF3. I evetually installed UniFL Leashcat drivers which boosted my FPS in all my games.

Here is the catch: Battleye doesnt accept mobility graphics drivers, even offical ones from AMD. In order to get Battleye to comply, you have to install normal graphics drivers, Basically I dont get to use my AMD card anymore if I want to play DayZ.

THIS SHOULD NOT BE THE CASE. I should be able to play fine with offical drivers from AMD (Mobility Radeon) but I can't. Im forced to install drivers that are'nt ment for my card. Hell, Battleye shouldnt even have forced me to stop using Leashcat Drivers. Leashcat drivers have offical certs. They are not some random third-party drivers, they are legit.

^^ I don't think this is a Bohemia issue.... THIS IS A BATTLEYE ISSUE. PLS FIX PRONTO!!!!!!

I have lost so much fps in all my games just cause I want to be able to run DayZ.

Thank you for your time Bohemia. Dont worry guys, one step at a time. We'll get there.

Again, to repeat, If you have this problem on .54 you can fix by uninstalling your Mobility Radeon drivers and Installing Desktop AMD drivers (which is not compatible for your card, but the only thing that will fix problem)

@Bohemia

I think what is happening is that Battleye is assuming that the Mobilty Radeon drivers and/or Leashcat drivers are "modding" dll prcocesses and considers this "cheating" thus kicking you out the game.

Been playing all night, I'm having to turn down all my settings to barely play at 20 fps....... I think its basically running off my Intel Card, which sucks a** cracks.

I have the same problem. Using Dual AMD Radeon 6950 HD with Crossfire. It do not help at all to turn off Crossfire. Got the same problem at my laptop, but it only appear at my laptop as I quite the game, so it still work okay. At the desktop I can NEVER start a game.

^^ I think I put up a solution somewhere. Hold on, lemme find it real quick

@pokerino

Remove Leashcat video card drivers for Intel and AMD using DDU http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU/ddudownload.htm [^]

Then, rollback to an older Leshcat driver, anything older than the new OMEGA drivers will do. IMPORTANT! ONLY INSTALL THE INTEL DRIVER FROM LEASHCAT. DO NOT INSTALL THE AMD DRIVER FROM LEASHCAT. ONCE IT INSTALLS THE INTEL ONE AND RESTARTS, JUST EXIT OUT OF AMD INSTALLATION WINDOW!!

And then, download this driver from AMD:

-32 bit : http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/mobile?os=Windows+7+-+32 [^]
-64 bit : http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/mobile?os=Windows+7+-+64 [^]

  • Even though these are for Enduro only, if you follow steps correctly it will work.

Install the offical Mobilty Radeon AMD Driver.
RESTART!!!

TAA-DAA!!!!
Not only will DayZ now work, but the Intel-AMD intercation is on par with the stbility provided by Leashcat. I don't know why this works, but I'm gonna assume most of Leashcat's stibility programming goes into changing the intel drivers.

YOU CAN NOW USE SIWTCHABLE GRAPHICS LIKE B4 AND STILL PLAY DAYZ YAY!!!

:D
