I picked up an item, but it wasn't actually in my inventory.

Description

I went upstairs in a house and I found a pristine first aid kit. I removed the hypo and transfusion items and then I dragged some pristine rags from my damaged first aid kit into the new, pristine kit. I then dragged the pristine kit on top of my existing damaged kit, which was already in my backpack.

The damaged first aid kit completely disappeared. The pristine first aid kit appeared in my backpack, but I was unable to view its contents. I repeatedly tried to view its contents, but without success. I tried to remove the pristine kit from my pack, but I could not discard it.

I went downstairs and I found a pristine first aid kit that was not previously there. I inspected its contents and they were the same as what the contents should be in the pristine first aid kit that was now in my pack. I tried to view the contents of the kit in my pack again, but I still could not. I tried to remove the kit from my pack, but I could not.

I tried to swap the 2nd pristine kit with the pristine kit that was in my pack, but I could not. I left the house and came back a few minutes later to try again. All attempts to remove the kit from my pack, or to swap it failed.

I rearranged the positions of the items in my backpack and then I tried to once again swap the pristine first aid kit that was on the floor, with the pristine kit in my backpack. This time it worked. I was able to drag the new kit on top of the one in my pack and I could also view the contents of this 2nd pristine kit.

When the animation played, showing that I had dropped the glitched pristine first aid kit, it showed that I had instead dropped a damaged first aid kit … this was apparently my original damaged kit that had disappeared, when this whole ordeal began. I was able to view the contents of the damaged kit and it showed to be empty, as my original kit should have been. If you will recall, I had dragged its contents into the pristine first aid kit, that I had found upstairs.
