Experimental: Game Freeze while clicking on "Connect"
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Dear magicians of DayZ,

I tested the newest Experimental Update and tried to connect to a server. After clicking on Connect the game freezes. Mouse is still moveable and ambient sound works (birds tweeting). But the rest of the game freezes.

During the freeze the CPU is used by around 13% by the process "DayZ". I guess the game ran into an infinite loop ^^ CPU is busy, RAM is not as far as I can say.

Additional Information

Tried multiple servers like "DayZ UK 0-13 (Experimental/Unstable)", "DE 0-7", "DE 0-5". All same result.

By the way, solid work on the new GUI magicians of DayZ! Look pretty neat and is easier to use! :)

Eugen tweeted something about a windows service which isn't working as purposed and gave the tip with restarting.
Restarted computer after installation of new BattleEye Client. Still doesn't work.
Maybe the service is still not working.
Keeping you updated.

Sorry guys for the many notes in such a short time.
Managed to get it to work!

The problem was that the service "BEService" wasn't running, even after restarting the computer. I started it manually via Windows TaskManager and I can connect to servers now. Strange waa the fact that BattleEye made another update after restarting BEService manually (as mentioned above).
Now it runs like it used to.

Maybe you can use this information to help others or to improve UpdateServices.

Nope I'm sorry. The issue is back today.
BEService is running, but again the game freezes at the moment I click on "connect" in the server lobby.

Tried to connect to multiple experimental servers. No chance to get on one.

Restarted computer. Now it's working again. I can't explain this behaviour. Something is moking DayZ Experimental, which can be fixed with a fresh restart, but it doesn't work always.

Maybe it has something to do with my overlays? I use Shadowplay and DXtory at the same time.

Cedrick

I'm having the exact same problem but mine doesn't seem to be intermittent. Over half of the servers I try to connect to, the screen will flicker and not do anything. After I click connect a second time to the same server, I get "Connection Failed" (I assume the server is full? Was previous issue in earlier experimental builds)

However, on some servers that I click connect the game will just instantly freeze as described here. I have made sure my BEService is running, rebooted my computer multiple times, reinstalled experimental, checked file integrity, and disabled all overlays. I haven't been able to connect to a server once.

same problem here. In the last days, my game client always crashed straight away when I hit "connect", now it doesn't crash anymore but it gives me a "Connection failed" message after clicking twice.

I have the same problem. It is persistent, I tried restarting and activating the BEService. Always the same.
