Battleye client update yesterday causes DayZ to crash on launch
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The BattleEye client update via Steam yesterday is preventing me from launching DayZ. I have played this game for over 300 hours, including 2 hours yesterday morning. When I came home from work, the BattleEye client update was downloaded & when I attempted to launch DayZ it promptly crashed before even reaching the Bohemia logo. Something about the BattleEye client update screwed up DayZ not only for myself but for literally hundreds of other people based on what I've see on various forums. The error message I receive is as follows: :DayZ:DayZ.exe- Application Error....The instruction at 0x00d1b2e2 referenced memory at 0x0000000. The memory could not be read....Click ok to terminate the program.

Yesterday, I was able to start DayZ (after the BattlEye update) from the launch folder using DayZ.exe. I was able to get to the server list & was able to start to get into a server but then because BattlEye needed to be loaded the game promptly crashed.

I have been in contact with BattleEye & hopefully some of the info sent back to them when I attempted to load DayZ this morning will be of use.

Try this:

I HAVE FIXED IT!

I went into C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ and deleted the BattlEye folder.

Next I disabled my Anti Virus and Firewall.
I couldn't turn off windows firewall so I added a rule for DayZ_BE.exe and allowed all connections.

Now I can start DayZ and BattlEye installs and the game works!

Hello spatula_of_death and thank you for the report.
I suggest you to try deleting BattlEye folder in your program files. It should be located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\BattlEye. Please report back if that fixes anything and if the crashes persist, please attach contents of your C:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Local\DayZ folder to this ticket.

Geez

thank you for the response. The problem was rectified with the 2nd BattlEye update last week so I am all good. I apologize for not posting this sooner but thanks for the follow up.
