Characters does not consume water from the canteen when squatting, there is the animation, where the canteen is still filled with water, which only really empties when consumed standing.

Take a water bottle with water 1000ml and try to drink it crouched.

We were not able to reproduce the problem on our internal version and everything seems to be functioning correctly - please submit a new ticket if the issue persists after the next patch.
