It should give the option even with gun in hands so then he puts gun on back and does animation. But it does not give option with weapon in hand.

It is not a bug, it is done so that you don't accidentaly start searching for kindlings or stones in the middle of a firefight. You could start searching for kindling instead of reloading your gun and what not.

yep it's this way since 0.51
Not really a bug, like Blues Adam and haco said before.
