Gunshot sound fix may not have not have worked - reports of silent muzzle blasts
Acknowledged, WishlistPublic

Description

See this thread:

Appears gunshot sounds may still be broken -- in other words, the fix did not take.

It would be good idea to re-open the original report: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=18245

Kind of surprised it was closed. The whole point of the early access & experimental builds is to test things the devs have done and see if they work. In this case, it does not seem like the fix worked, yet the issue was changed to "fixed" status, preventing any further discussion/comments.

No issues should ever disable further comments in this feedback forum - regardless of status. Just my opinion. Especially since, as Andy pointed out when marking the report fixed, that further development may re-introduce the bug. At the very least, a new "potentially fixed" status should be added to the mix, which encourages people to test the fix and continue to add to the issue report with their test results, confirming or disproving the fix. In my head, it makes sense for everything to stay on one report instead of requiring entirely new reports, so all the facts are collected in one place.

No hate though, love you Andy.

Hey peglegpete,
thank you for your report!
The reason for closing that ticket was the fact that one of the reasons for this issue has been fixed, guaranteed. Since the issue was primarily targeted at this specific reason, I decided to close it.
I agree with you about the option to add comments to closed tickets and will discuss it with our FT technical support person.
Ad this issue - we are aware of a couple possible reasons for this and are investigating how to work around them - it might take some time, as the problem here is closely linked to a multitude of general principles of server x client synchronization and similar complex mechanics.
Thanks again - love you too :).
Regards,
Andy
