DayZ Experimental 0.51 - Ghillie Lighting Issues
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Dear digital magicians of DayZ,

I noticed an issue with the lighting of the ghillie suits (or better: with the material and the alpha texture). There seems to be strange lighting on the ghillie suit parts related to ambient color and/or parallel light color, when the sun goes down (sunset). Maybe when the sun rises, too.
As soon as the light fades to orange some ghillie suit parts show a greyish color. The woodland ghillie seem to get darker than normal.
The issue seems to affect the ghillie hood and top part, only. The gun wrap fades to gray at certain angles to the light source. Compare the two screenshots with the gun raised and lowered.. the color of the gun wrap looks totally different.

I attached some screenshots of the issue (see the link in "additional informations"). The images show the normal ghillie suit (no spraypaint added) and the woodland ghillie during sunset. The shown green ghillie is NOT the mossy one. We double checked it.
Looks kind of strange to us.

The ghillie-color behave strange while sunset. Maybe when the sun rises, too.

Additional Information

I could upload a video file which is showing the issue if you wish.
The screenshots are from the mentioned video material.

Maybe there is an issue with the polygon normals and lighting? Because the wrap seems to be unaffected at some angles.

Hi coreZair and thank you for the in-depth report.
There have been some tweaks to how lighting works on the Ghillie and while it is not perfect, it is the best we can do for now until the new renderer hits.
Regards,
Andy
