Im not sure what are you talking about, but sometimes I get pass this. For example, you see a rain jacker on cabinet ( 4 slots in inventory ). I free 4 slots in my backpack and then I go in first person and zoom in and press MMB to take item.

I still even in first person or third person cannot "Take" Anything or see it when looking at "Vincinity" on inventory.
