ran into a zombie and tried to kill it with multiple melee weapons and simply could not connect despite being dead on with my hits. ive tried aiming so that the weapon makes direct contact and using the the crosshair on the screen from both 1st/3rd person views

this is a huge issue ive reported it once already and it was over a month ago that post is still marked new i gave very detailed info on the situation ID 0016540 i understand that the game is in alpha and that it will have bugs but something like this is a must fix over adding new zombie skins and construction of new towns and such i enjoy this game very much and wish to continue to play it but theres not alot of point in doing so while a major function of the game is in such a sad state please fix this or atleast respond to my issue this time

I have been looking into this lately. A lot of melee weapons seem to function properly, it is important to realise that they inflict damage along the trajectory of the swing rather than necessarily at the cursor.
There are still some bugged weapons, rest assured we are investigating the problems - be patient though as this might take some time.
