I cannot put items for my vicinity view into my inventory , there is enough space for the item , but when it is dragged across either into a bag , trousers or onto my person the item does appear. It stays in the vicinity view once I let it go with my mouse. also a possibility it could be related to server ping but don't think so.

I have not been able to reproduce it, I'll attach more info if i see it again, I'm more thinking it was related to server latency

Try to drop the bag, trousers or where ever you wanted to stick the item in, to the ground and put it back on. This sometimes frees the space and you can stick your item in.
