combine the rope and a grenade to make a tripwire in doorways between trees etc. would go along with barricading. Try sneaking up on me and kaboom you are dead.

This is all about surviving. Its how you protect your camp from bandits and zombies alike. There are no empty cans to use in the same way to make noise, that would be good to, but if some bandit is trying to sneak up on me to kill me and steal my gear then blow him up. that's survival in the zombie apocalypse.
