Happens everytime someone dies in a hill and slides down. Might not happen if it's a very very tiny distance.
But almost everytime me or any streamer kills someone in a hill they can't loot the bodies without taking the item into their own backpack first. Weapons cannot be retrieved, nor melee weapons.
Yes, had this happen to me also. I checked along the route the body slid and still found nothing. Incidently the rifle was hanging in the air above the body as if being aimed and the axe was also in the air where it would have slung if the character was still alive.
