I was in a fire fight, when my AKM mystically turned in to Beans. This has happened while using my Fire Axe, Telescoping Baton, Cattle Prod, Magnum, and Wrench. The weapon in hand goes back into my inventory (if I don't have the type's primary slot empty, then it just disappears), and the food item it turns into was also in my inventory.
