Character is killed / reset with zero inventory (at first, there is even no flashlight and battery) and relocated when immediately re-joining a server that just restarted.
This is indicated by an unusually long initial "Waiting for host" window

I've noticed that this happens to me on a server that, for some reason, changes the ingame time several times before really going up and running. The character wipe does not occur when I wait for the game time to progress.
Example:
Server restarts (no message received in 10 seconds)
Exit game
Go into server list
Refresh to find server you just left
Server ingame time: 08:00 => if I were to join now my character would be wiped
Wait & refresh, wait & refresh, wait & refresh
Server ingame time: 10:00 => if I were to join now my character would be wiped
Wait & refresh, wait & refresh, wait & refresh
Server ingame time: 12:00 => not sure what would happen if I rejoined now
Wait & refresh, wait & refresh, wait & refresh
Server ingame time: 12:01 => I can now join without fearing to be wiped

+1, very frustrating. When the server restarted I found myself at the character screen with all of the gear, tried to reconnect shortly thereafter and got waiting for host message and was relocated and gear was wiped....

+1 Same here...twice in a period of 24 hours...ofcourse after I collected some great loot. This sucks. I'm reluctant to start playing again just to see my char wiped again. Stable my ass!
And yes, it happened while relogging to a restarting server too fast. My God this sucks! I had some unicorn items, like the MP5 with mags can you believe it!!! I don't think I can muster up the courage to collect all that stuff again...I think I'm going to take a break from Dayz untill this crap is fixed

I've played all day today 9/6/14. I had been wiped 4-5 times after a server restart. Seems like every time I get gear I get reset. I can deal with if I get killed or maybe once in a blue moon the gear gets reset for update reasons, but a lot of players are really into the game and hate having this happen to them. It happens to almost everyone I really think this should be fixed. Love the game just a really big bug here. (the resets were within a few hours of each other)
This also happens a lot when I log out.

Happened to a friend of mine on 3rd person today. We joined a completely new server and didn't know it was restarting. Losing two months of gear to this is unacceptable.

Thank you for sending us your feedback regarding this issue. Unfortunately, this problem is a known issue that has previously been reported. The devs are aware of the problem and are working on fixing it.
