Two game crashes in one night, both different.
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Game crash A:
I'm trying to join a server and notice that it is taking longer than I was expecting. After 3 minutes or so, I notice I have an error and that DayZ has crashed.

Game Crash B:
After dying a minute after a server reset (the weird message where your leg is in pain, your leg is in extreme pain, you are dead) and running back to my stuff that someone had picked up, we all joined up and I was handing out gear.

I don't remember what I was doing, I was honestly just too angry after the fact that my character was reset when re-joining the server.

There were 4 of us at 052 042 on the dayzdb map, moving gear around and waiting to head to the NWAF. Three of us had our game crash to the desktop, and the one guy who wasn't kicked from the game said we got the "player is losing connection" error. This nearly locks up computers to the point where they need to be restarted before your mouse will work, but logging out of the user account works, as well. I can sometimes CTRL-ALT-DEL 3 times and finally get my mouse back. I started DayZ up again through steam, and when I got back into the server, I was south of Novo (around the 116 011 spawn). I immediately left the server and tried re-joining and go back to the same place. Then I shut down steam and when I re-joined a different server, I gave up hope that I would get my gear back.

I'm using these launch options in steam.
-nospash -maxMem=8192 -cpuCount=2

I have a quad core, but why use all 4?

A small side hint as I just read your post:

-maxMem=8192 will not work as 2047 is the hard-coded maximum (anything higher falls back to 2047). Also, if you don't want to simulate dual-core for some reason, you may leave -cpuCount=2 out.

I know, DayZ is not ArmA 3, but take another look at this article from the Wiki:
https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma3:_Startup_Parameters

As for the crashes, the devs will have a look into that. Crashes are still pretty common in this state of the game and you shouldn't "attach" to your character too much as you might lose it anytime for some stupid reason again.

Johnny

Hi,
we believe that the game should not crash for these specific reasons anymore.
Please submit a new ticket if the issue persists.
