If I recall correctly, in Arma, using just two keys ("up" and "prone") it was possible to pick any stance you wanted in a very logical a seamless manner:
- "up" was a toggle between crouched and standing, and made you stand up if you were prone.
- "prone" was a toggle between prone and crouched.
This gave us 3 situations with very seamless logical results for each:
* when you were prone, you could choose to go standing with "up", or choose to just go crouched with "prone" (i.e. it was acting as a toggle).
* when you were crouched, "prone" would make you go prone, and "up" would make you stand.
* when you are standing, "prone" would make you go prone, and "up" would make you "crouch" (i.e. it was acting as a toggle).
This was probably the simplest and most intuitive way to represent the 3 stances with 2 keys (which is very important in a game that uses so many controls).
I can find no way to replicate the Arma controls that I used, and no way to adequately represent the 3 stances with just 2 key presses. Please return the toggle features to that described above! Also, ideally the "prone" key should be renamed "prone toggle", and the "up" key should be renamed "stand/crouch toggle", this would make it more likely that people would find this very useful key configuration.
