Present damage system of rotorcrafts is unrealistic. There are no differentiation between engines, no malfunctions in one or all of them, no hydraulics leaks causing loss of power, no steering controls malfunctions, etc. Historical data from real battlefields shows more complex nature of helicopter malfunctions caused by enemy fire, environmental conditions and pilot errors. Also, the outcomes of the mishaps/crashes varied.
Currently, rotorcrafts in-game can start their engines multiple times including in-flight restarts which is also unrealistic. Having battery management available, realistic starts with external power or single in-flight restart can be achieved.
The idea behind is to have more realistic and playable rotor wings. The above commands implementation can increase of overall realism, boost realism of flying and especially engine management and malfunctions. It can also create possibility of having more realistic behavior of helicopter addons through using of custom systems made by addon makers. The battlefield realism seems to be the thing that attracts broad group of players into the game. And as long as AFM is optional, it creates an environment where the commands implementation can add immersion and realism for only those who want it. From my point of view, above commands have not to be implemented within default Arma3 helicopters including DLC (if possible) instead could be treated as a sandbox for upcoming addons made by either BIS (another heli DLC?) or modding community.
