Dayz is having issues with resolution and is potentially utilizing the wrong gpu on laptop
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Ever since the new update to stable (0.45.124426). Dayz will only run at low resolution, the Max available in the video configuration is 640x400. I believe it is utilizing the onboard graphics instead of my nvidia 580m.

I have tried to alter the resolution and width in the .cfg in my documents to my native resolution ( Resolution_W=1920; Resolution_H=1080; )

While this did make the resolution change it still doesn't look normal.

I also tested my video card on other games and they ran fine utilizing the 580m and running at native resolution.

Steps To Reproduce

I started with multiple deletions and re-installations of dayz client via steam. After that would not remedy the situation I resorted to re-installing windows 2 separate times along with clean installs of 2 different Nvidia driver versions multiple times. Nothing has changed it

Additional Information

I own an alien ware m17x R3. The specs are Intel i7-2820QM, 8gb of DDR3 ram. The gpu is Nvidia 580m but the laptop has intel integrated graphics. Which my system switches to when not gaming via Nvidia Optimus.

Hi,

At the main menu, click Configure -> Video -> User Interface and use the Resolution drop down list to select your resolution.

Make sure the Aspect Ratio option matches the aspect ratio of your resolution.

Close the config settings completely and return to the main menu.

Then open Config again, click Video and then select your resolution from the Rendering Resolution drop down list.

This should return your game back to normal resolution.

Open dayz.cfg file and type "your real resolution" in there like ; for example 1920X1080

change older one like that... delete 640 and 480 and type your resolution...
Resolution_W=1920;
Resolution_H=1080;

then open the game and change your resolution to 1920X1080 and change interface size to normal and change aspect ratio then you'll solve your problem...
