drink from a pod: doesn´t work (drink from a fountain works fine)
chop firewood with a fireaxe: only a few white dots appears on the tree, nothing else happens.
gather worms with a shovel, kneeling on the ground, bashing the ground: nothing happens.

Are you sure you are doing it right ?
To chop down a tree you should stand in front of a tree with you axe equipped in you hands. Switch to first person and than if you use the action menu (scroll mouse) a chop down tree option should appear. You have to use the "f" key or pressing the middel mouse button. Your character should now start a chopping animation. After pressing the key several times the tree should fall and firewood appears on the ground or in your inventory.
Same for worms. First person with shovel equipped, aim on the ground (only some ground textures work, make sure you are in a forrest) and press f.
You should also switch to first person if you want to drink from a pond.
