Canned Sardines are invisible in your inventory (possibly invisible before picked up as well) until opened.

It might also be missing from the game world as well, meaning that you might not see them unless you open your inventory and mouse over the "vicinity" and wait for the discretion to appear.

I'll continue to look for more sardines to test the missing image from the game world as well.
