Game starts to Freeze near buildings
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hello, I seem to have an encounter with DayZ that is affecting my gameplay literally so I can't play ONE BIT. So, I bought DayZ yesterday, tweaked with my graphical settings so I can actually have some FPS, (I have a low end computer but this is not the problem of the issue.) then started playing. Now, my internet isn't that well so of course, there were time outs and restarts, which of course, cause no problem. So I was in somewhere near Kamenka (or however you spell it.) and I was searching through some buildings.

Low and behold, my internet seized up so I had to restart my session. Upon restarting my session, I decided to travel out near what looked like a church and yet again, another connection problem. So I exited and came back in but when I loaded up and was getting ready to play, I was in front of two, maybe three buildings and they were all in my sight. But I was frozen. There was the sounds of the sea going on constantly throughout my waiting and I decided I'd check the process itself and see maybe if there was something wrong with it.

When I checked the process, it was slowly, steadily climbing up in memory, (It was climbing up at least maybe 1-5 k of memory per second) but it didn't seem to stop at any point and still remained frozen. Of course, I decided to try and check on it, but when I opened it up, it wouldn't properly open and show me my screen. It was then I decided to brush off the experience and stop the process altogether and retry playing. Yet again, the same result.

Is there a fix for this?

Well maybe having a bad PC might just be the problem, but try joining a new server, some of them can be laggy than others depending where you are. If you need help getting a good connection just look at the Ping (at the top of the server list). Go for the lowest ping (and a server that you'd prefer: Hardcore, many players, etc.) and see if that helps. If not then it's either the game files or your PC. Hope this helps a bit.

So it actually did work when I decided to check out what was wrong and sadly, it was sort of what I expected. My internet was causing me to desync so bad that it caused a freeze, but here's a funny quirk. That was during night time, my time. Not only that, it actually worked BETTER during the day time, so I'm going to have to contact my service provider. Either way, keep note of this and if anyone runs into the same incident, report your findings here.

Finally got it working. Turns out files were missing from the game itself. Note to self: Validate Games so they are ensured to work. Can a mod check this off as solved?

Good to hear it's all working now.
