Walk/Run stop delay

Description

When navigating around the game environment (using the UP key / W key (defaults)) in the jogging and running state there is a noticeable delay when the user releases the jogging / running key until the character actually stops walking / running. This was first observed in version 0.43.116251 (stable). Ping times and desync didn't seem to matter as these were both extremely low and non-existent respectively.

Steps To Reproduce
  1. Enter the game environment (3PP mode).

2a. Press the UP key to jog or double hit the W key to run.
2b. Move mouse from side-to-side to navigate the character.

  1. Release the UP key to stop the jog / run state (while still moving the mouse).
  2. The character continues to move from side-to-side for a few seconds even though the UP key has been released.
Additional Information

This is dangerous for the character when navigating around stairs, and high ledges due to the added risk of falling.

This problem has gotten me killed several times when moving on elevated platforms. I agree, movement should be more precise.
