As the title says, I accidently put my long range scope onto my SKS, it already had a PSU scope attached, but I was actually trying to put the scope onto my Mosin Nagant that was in my hands.
The PU scope on the SKS was ofcourse thrown back into my inventory, but the Long Range Scope did not appear on the SKS, not that it should have! It deleted itself, did not appear on the ground either.
Have mosin in hands, SKS with PU scope on back, drag long range scope onto SKS, Long range scope dissapears.

I will update this if I am able to replicate, unable to at this moment in time, as finding another LRS is not exactly a walk in the park.
I can confirm this issue. Found a Pristine LRS and tried "swapping" it with the PU scope on my SKS to see if it would fit. PU scope ended up in inventory and i spent the next 10 minutes crawling through the grass trying to find my LRS. I'm kicking myself for even trying it. Made an account just to acknowledge this issue.
I can also confirm, however, this happened in the experimental branch 0.36.115535 for me. I had my SKS on my back & Mosin in my hands. I tried to put the long range scope on the SKS about 15 minutes prior to it randomly disappearing, but it stayed on the Mosin for a fair amount of time before I watched it just poof into thin air as I was holding my gun.
