Vomiting completely empties the stomach instead of removing only a portion of the contents
New, WishlistPublic

Description

With the latest changes in 0.34.115106 to the stomach/vomiting you lose your entire stomach's contents. It used to be 500 per vomit, now it's 3400 and possibly more.

Since you only lose an amount of energy and water that is balanced around the old 500 stomach volume lost upon vomiting, vomiting isn't the limiter that it used to be anymore. You can now eat and drink huge amounts without any serious repercussions and still have a positive energy/water balance.

Example: When vomiting you used to "make room" for the equivalent of the volume of 1.17 (500/440) cans of beans. At the same time you lost the energy of 1.3 (600/462) cans of beans and the water of 3 (1000/330) cans of beans. You suffered a net loss of energy and water and had to wait for your digestion to allow you to eat again, meaning vomiting was a serious threat to cause dehydration if you just can't drink without losing much more than you lose soon after. That's how it should and did work.

Now you "make room" for 7.7 (3400/440) cans of beans when vomiting but still only lose 1.3 cans of beans in energy and 3 cans of beans in water. Therefore you can currently eat and drink infinitely and still have a massively positive energy and water balance.

Vomiting is currently not fulfilling its purpose at all.

Steps To Reproduce
  • drink from a water pump and count how many times it takes for the yellow stuffed, orange stuffed, red stuffed/vomiting statuses to appear
  • it's 66 times (66x50=3300=vomiting) plus a few to make up for digestion until you vomit
  • repeat right after vomiting, you can again drink 66+X times until you vomit again

conclusion: vomiting currently completely empties your stomach

@ Here is Johnny
Seems like it, unfortunately. Last update to it was in 0.32. :(

I've got copies of the pbo from 0.32, 0.33 and 0.34 and they are all identical. The config.bin file hasn't been changed, even though there have been changes made to the servers, such as loot spawns and character status mechanics, like the vomiting listed in this issue.

@Anon13
Server-related stuff. Full of functions and info for various game mechanics that are done server-side now, such as illnesses, blood transfusions and player actions.

I guess it must only be needed on the server, so they stopped updating the file for the clients.

My server_data.pbo was last modified the 22.01.2014.

What does this file mean?

Did they? I'm not sure. My server_data.pbo was last modified 23.01.2014 (as of 08.02.2014)

But anyway, I totally agree. Reading, how all this stuff works was very interesting and could even help me understand certain things, like the "You are unconscious ... forever" issue.

I wish they hadn't stopped updating the server_data.pbo. It was a lot easier to look at the mechanics of how all this stuff worked instead of having to test it empirically.
