I know this isn't a bug, but it bugs most people. Either you get lucky and join the server just after it has restarted or survive until it does hopefully, or you have to hop servers to get loot to survive.
The solution would be to respawn the loot, or keep the dead bodies around forever, which would be pretty realistic, but not going to happen I'm guessing.
So the mechanism to respawn loot could just be a process of iterating through the loot spots and checking that no player is within say 200m-2km, and spawn something there 1 out of 10 times or something like that. This would have the positive side effect of keeping players from culminating around hotspots, unless just for combat(elektro), forcing them to forge around the map to remote areas.
Although this concept isn't realism, being confined to a region with finite resources(Cherno) isn't either.
