I had the same issue when fighting a zombie inside, in my panic I somehow ended up in a room that then had all walls as opaque but I couldn't get out.
The vaulting and running solution worked for me too- saw that solution on youtube video.

Stand facing a wall, hit V, and while you're doing the vaulting animation, disconnect from the server. Log back in and you should be the other side of the wall.
