I've just tested this and I'm unable to repro it, I believe you used this on yourself and that you didn't apply it to your friend.

@R834: read more carefully. It knocked HIM out while he was trying to revive a player. And YES it is supposed to revive dead people. The purpose of a Defibrillator is exactly that, to revive a person whose heart has stopped (= dead).

This isn't a bug.
Defibrillators can't be used on dead people. Using a defib on a conscious player will knock them out. They can be used on yourself.
I think you accidentally clicked on the option to apply the defibrillator to yourself, which shocked you into unconsciousness.
