Standing in a group of Evergreen trees for cover, I placed an M4 on the ground from my hand, the gun was pretty close to the ground but hovering on the branches i guess. When trying to retrieve it, I learned that it was not listed in the vicinity, and also trying to target the gun without the inventory opened was not possible.
