no servers, game freezes, makes computer unusable
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

So when i launch DayZ and try to join a friends game or just hit play it acts like its loading and says wait for host. but nothing happens. when this happens I cant tab out, close the game, end task. my computer is stuck. the only thing that closes the game is ctrl+alt+del and shut down or sign out. and when I get back on it seems to have forced me into offline mode on steam. so i have to appear back online.

Does your char have a backpack in backpack in backpack?

The freeze at the loading screen is common for the recursive backpack bug.

No, my character does not. And it does it even before the loading screen. I only get to that by joining a friend or hitting play. But in the change server option nothing is there and no loading happens when I freeze in there.

Actually Steam seems to have some traffic problems. Anyway, have you tried to "Verify Steam Game Cache"? Probably there is something wrong with your files.
Please post some more information about your pc if the problem still exists.

Yeah I noticed steam was acting up yesterday but the problem started before that even happened. I did verify and it said it was fine. I also reinstalled the game just to make sure and still nothing. My computer did start acting up really badly all the sudden so I actually ended up having to do a factory reset. Maybe some windows files got corrupt. Just trying to get everything set up and we'll see how it works.

Okay so the factory reset seemed to work. I really don't know what happened to my laptop. All I can think of was the windows 8.1 update was giving me major compatibility issues or something. Anyways, thanks for your effort and help Ottk3.
