I ran across this 4 or 5 times(on different servers) yesterday, what appears to be a bleeding standing fresh spawn(sometimes with zombies standing idle around it). After applying bandage to "player" I receive a message showing that bandage was applied to "unknown". The head looks up and down which lead me to believe that it was still alive, you can also loot the standing body.
