I had been gathering gear over the last few days and finally got to a place where me and some friends could go around scouting places more safely. This character had been alive for about 5 days without injury. Just now, I tried to log into a server with some friends and got stuck on "Waiting for Host", after which I pressed escape and went back to the server screen. I tried connecting back to the exact same server, only this time I spawned in a completely different place with an entirely different character. I don't mind dying to bugs or to another player, but I didn't even get to die. My character just up and vanished after some decent amount of work put into it. Now there's my friends, who also promptly logged out since we weren't going to be able to play together after all. An alpha has bugs, but some random character removal for no reason isn't just an in-game bug anymore.
