Click & drag Pristine 20 rnd box of 5.56mm ammo onto empty 30-round C-Mag, select load ammo and get message saying '30 rnd C-Mag does not fit in 20 rnd box 5.56mm' or words to that effect.

Boxes of 5.56mm ammo just like 7.62mm ammo have to be emptied and the rounds loose in your inventory before being loaded into a magazine.
