Several guys reported before about this issue (http://steamcommunity.com/app/221100/discussions/0/648814738561216964/). Now my friend has the same. Sound works in every other program/game/browser but no sound in Dayz at all (tested with many types of headphones/loudspeakers).
My friend has tried reinstalling drivers (different version), using -dsound or -openal, сompatibility modes. Per-application volume level in the windows volume changer application in the taskbar is fine.
There is a suspicion that the case is in sound hardware acceleration. There is no straight way to change it in Windows 7 but we've found one available method, unfortunately with no effect.
Can you help please?

Problem solved. Solution - reinstall DirectX again from folder:
... \ Steam \ steamapps \ common \ DayZ \ _CommonRedist
That's odd because my friend tried it several times (first launch of course too).
Updating through the official web-updater had no effect.
