You are able to duplicate bodies by pressing esc before you completely join a server.

To do this, have a friend watch you while you are waiting for your other friend "duplicatee" to log in. As soon as you see his body log in, tell him to press "esc" to prevent him from joining. NPC will take over and he can log back in with duplicated gear.
