While in voice communication - Skype - with a friend playing on the same (public, I checked) server, the "No Message Received" server appeared on my screen and did not manifest itself at all on my friend's screen. At no point during, before or after the message did the voice communication or any other form of internet access degrade or fail.

Additionally, upon exiting and rejoining the server, my character save was destroyed and I spawned on the coast as if I had died.
