Physics related to character damage/environment
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The physics for characters when going from 3-6 foot objects, to the ground are messed up. If I go off of a 3 foot ledge, I should not break my legs and immediately be incapacitated. This should go for 6 ft ledges too. If you calculate height of the character at 6 feet, there is no reason why any bones should be broken if coming off a ledge. This was a big issue in ARMA 2/3, and now that you guys have branched off into your own development for DayZ, you should take an extremely hard look at this.

Steps To Reproduce
  1. Go to any ledge more than 4-5 ft in the air, but less than 6-7 in relation to your character (calculate Character at 6 ft).
  1. Slowly creep off (I did this in elektro)
  1. Your legs will break greater than 50% of the time, which is ridiculous.
Additional Information

I know you guys are swamped, and this is an alpha. But serious thought needs to be put into how the characters interact with their environment. As a "survivalist" in this game, I shouldnt hurt myself going off of a small ledge. At the least if I am crouched when I "fall off" of it, I should be able to take minimal damage. I know this is a simulator, and not an action game per se, but the physics in the ArmA engine are god awful when it comes to this stuff.
