Dead zombies respawning and one-shot killing?
New, WishlistPublic

Description

I was recently in NWAF looting the hangers when a zombie saw me from the distance and kept running at me.

I shot at it once, and must have missed because it kept running at me. I shot again about 3 seconds later (it spotted me from a long ways away) and it went down. The problem was that the zombie rubber-banded back to where I had originally shot it (or so I thought) and fell (re-)dead.

There was another zombie at the next hanger, so I checked him out, he hadn't moved and was still scanning the other way.

Now let me be clear- THERE WERE ABSOLUTELY NO ZOMBIES AROUND ME, I AM 100% CERTAIN

Well as SOON AS I had hit tab to bring up my inventory screen, I hear myself get hit, ONCE, and immediately fall unconscious. No "blood is dripping", no zombie sounds, just one thud BOOM unconscious. As soon as I had brung up my inventory.

I have died several times to being one-shot by a phantom-zombie (or so I believe).

One time I had gone prone, opened the map and BOOM! Unconscious after one audible hit, no zombie sound even.

Several times I have turned around to find a copy of the zombie I had just killed right behind me and needing to be put down. I am wondering if zombies are respawning from where they died, some times.

Also the fact that the zombie corpse fell dead where I had originally shot it leads me to believe there is some kind of desync between client and server, one where the client sees the zombie die, but the server keeps it going invisibly to the client, and while it still attacks the client the client doesn't notice anything until the final blow is landed.

tl,dr: Invisible zombie one-shotted me.

A shame this was easily my best character.

Steps To Reproduce

If you notice some lag/desync between you killing a zombie and it happening in the game, that might be a clue.

BRINGING UP THE INVENTORY SCREEN/READING A MAP is how I reproduced this several times leading to an unexpected death.

Additional Information

This only seems to happen as soon as I bring up the inventory menu.

Once again, everytime this has happened it has appeared to me that i occured when pulling up an item/inventory/reading a map
