this happened to me tonight and eventually led to my death, but i was in first person dealing with hostiles while attempting to look down my scope both while crouched and prone. as it brought the gun up to bear, my screen would go black with the texture of the backpack essentially covering up my view. if i swapped to third person it fixed itself.
