Cannot work with TV
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I use an LG brand TV, and I cannot view any part of Day Z. After opening the program in Steam, the screen blacks out, and the floating LG logo comes up and says "Invalid Format". I cannot adjust the graphics to fit my TV because I can't even get to the main menu. I'm guessing the issue could be resolved if there were a Start screen where graphics settings could be adjusted before the game itself actually opened. But as of now I can only get a floating "Invalid Format" screen and the game audio. Cannot see the menu to change the settings in-game. I should also note that I'm using VGA cables rather than HDMI. My graphics card only takes a mini HDMI, which I don't have, but I'd be willing to go buy one if you think it could resolve the problem.

Let me know if there's any more information I can provide. Hopefully more people aren't having this issue!

Thanks, and any help is very much appreciated!

TV Model: 42LW5300-UC
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450

Try to change resolution from the config file

Thanks for the response!

What is the config file named? There is no file under the actual name "config" in the local files.

try in: C:\Users\DJPorterNZ\Documents\DayZ\DayZ.cfg

should be something like:
Resolution_Bpp=32;
Resolution_W=1440;
Resolution_H=900;

^^ Of course, your user name will be different ;-)

WAIIIIT! Found it!

So, for anyone else's reference, the DayZ Config file is found at:
My Documents\Dayz\Dayz.cfg

Not with the rest of the Day Z Local Files. From there you can change to a more typical resolution, such as 1440 x 1080.

Made that change and that problem is solved.

Found it JUST as DJPorterNZ posted the same. So many thanks to you!
