this is intended as of course you can apply bandages to yourself whenever you want, works in the real world as well. You can drink disinfection spray and die within minutes. Same rule applies for any other consumables.

Maybe later in the development process, it might somehow be beneficial, for instance to to prevent grazes by carrying heavy gear or by crawling. We'll see.
