i run on 1920x1080x32 at 59Hz, the game however always forces me to use 60Hz, making a larga chunk of the screen unavailable.

Try editing the .cfg file. Go to C:\Users\NAME\Documents\DayZ and open DayZ.cfg, then change

refresh=XX;

to

refresh=59;
