I think it was a sweet feature in the mod, however after playing without it now I think it would be unrealistic without some sort of rare gps that you had to go along with it.

Never had any issues. Don't even need a compass, just a digital map.

It's not going to happen.

If you want waypoints you're going to have to wait until you find a GPS (Which is currently not in the game).

There are multiple ways to work out where you are and where to go, you can use the sun, signposts, landmarks etc. to help you navigate.
