I removed my shirt so I could use it as a bandage and it disappeared on the ground. Later I ran to a different area and removed my shoes, which disappeared as well.

I've experienced this frequently as well. It seems as though items are capable of "falling through" building floors or even the world itself. I've dropped flashlights to temporarily make room in my hands for something else only to find no flashlight in the vicinity (after a thorough search).
