I've noticed in small houses mostly that zombies can hit players through walls. They can clip through the wall, and if they hit you when you are too close to it, you will appear outside.

Steps To Reproduce
All you have to do to reproduce this is walk into a small house, stand near a wall and let a zombie hit you.
