When I try changing settings like resolution or overall quality, the game crashes and a window pops up saying; "Error: Device reset failed, error 8876086c"

In video settings, change overall quality. The game crashes for me.
My tower has a sticker saying windows 7 pro but my operating system says windows XP Pro. My video card is an ATI Radeon HD 4200 and my processor is an AMD Anthlon II X2 B24 Processor.

I'm guessing this just has to do with my computer being really bad. I read an article saying if you could run Arma II then you could run this. I easily ran Arma II but I guess the article was wrong. :(
If this is something about my computer, at least I donated by buying the game! :)
You should include a crash dump. Check out this guide to see how:

I went to the location and there was not a DayZ folder. I think this must be because of my computer and not DayZ :(
Got some bad news. Found another report of this at 188 and a developer replied saying that they are not supporting XP for DayZ

I'm running windows 7 64bit but had to put dayz.exe into compatibility mode to start up without crashing. It now crashes when changing nearly any of the video settings.
I don't get a message at all. When changing a setting like render resolution I get the blue spinning circle mouse icon on a black background. The game just kind of hangs like that. Task manager says the game is not responding.
I should maybe try taking the game out of compatibility mode again.
My pc is top end with gtx780ti gpu. ARMA 2 & 3 run perfectly well.
OK I have tried to submit an issue but it fails beacause the 'Product Version' drop-down selector is blank. There is no way to select a product version and the form will not submit without it. I have tried with Firefox, Chrome and IE, all show a blank entry. There is no way to type in the version number either.
I'm not having much luck with anything DayZ related it would seem. I made a thread on the forum last night saying it is broken but no one has answered it.
That's because the Game Version field is the invalid one, not the empty Product Version drop down.
For whatever reason the Game Version box will not accept two decimal places, despite that being how the versions are named for Standalone. I'd recommend just chopping off the start '0.'
Thanks I have now submitted a report for my first issue that is the game crashing on Launch when not in WinXP SP3 compatibility mode. (Separate to this issue)
We are very sorry, but support for Windows XP is not planned. Please try to run the game only on Windows Vista SP2 or higher.
