When I enter the character creation screen I change the options to my preference, press "save as default", and exit. The character model immediately reverts back to the default original model.
When I join a server the character model is the default black woman.
Every time I try to change character model.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the game but it has had no effect.
Yesterday was the same for me.
Did u died after the character changes?
Today i was like yesterday a black skinned woman.
After a server change (did not died before) i spawed as my choosen character, but as freshspawn. (Loosing all my gear and position)

everytime i die and respawn, i am spawning as a black women.
even though i changed the character in the settings
today ive switched to the light skin male model (in the character-settings) and the skin of the black women (ingame) switched to white. but it was still the black women :D
edit: im not sure if the character switched to white. could be just the arms because i was wearing a helmet and gloves.
maybe issue 0000033 happened to me
edit2: maybe this was fixed in todays update. cause ive respawned with the "lightskinmale" today
Just got game yesterday on 12/18/13, having same problem. Change character and only have options for default & back. Click back or ESC defaults back dark female. I let steam update to new build, from 0.28.113772 to 0.29.113822. Still same issue, playing at female have not died but only played for couple of hours.
